President’s Speech

Our President Speaks

Namashkaar.

Dear Members of the Bengali Association of Minnesota (BAM)

On behalf of the Executive Committee of BAM, I wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

I feel honored that you have chosen me to preside over the Bengali Association of Minnesota for FY 2017 and 2018. I will do my best to serve the community. I also feel fortunate that a very able body of committed team members with the same vision have come forward and we will journey together to serve the community.

I like to take this opportunity to thank FY 2015 and 2016 Executive Committee members for their outstanding job and cooperation with us in sharing knowledge and guiding us.

Together with my team, we will serve the community the best possible way that we can. And you are in the center of it all. We need you; your valuable guidance, active participation and incredible volunteer efforts are the key components to build a community. And we urge you to please help anyway you can.

Here is little something about me:

My prior board experience includes: a member of the Board of Directors for Minnesota Dance Alliance and Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and the founding member and artistic director of Katha Dance Theatre. I am also one of the founding members of the Bengali Association of Minnesota.

My skills include: planning, organizing and managing cultural events; critical thinking, listening, bridging communities, marketing, communication, the ability to lead and the ability to govern. I do have media contacts and contacts with professional and service organizations.

I have created a ‘Vision Plan’ for the Bengali Association of Minnesota. It needs your approval and hopefully with your help we can move forward and enrich our community.

What motivates me is the idea of promoting the rich Bengali cultural values to our growing community. I would like to work with members of the Bengali community with special interest to work with our youth and children. I would like to become aware of creative potentials of our members and youth and would like to encourage creative strength. We would also like to conduct various outreach activities and work with other organizations to make a mark in the cultural fabric of Minnesota.

As we embark on the New Year, I will always be open to new ideas and willing to give it a try; I might fail but I will learn from it. I will be honest and trustworthy, have Integrity and independence; often I will look for direction and will be proactive. This is my offering to the Bengali Association of Minnesota for 2017 and 2018.

Dhanyabad.
