Our President Speaks
Dear Members of the Bengali Association of Minnesota,
I feel honored to be chosen as the President of the Board for 2019 and I am very fortunate and excited to have a capable and energetic team of Board members and experienced ACC members with me in this journey.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Board of 2018 the members of ACC of 2018, the Executive Committee members of 2017-18 and the members of AC of 2017-18 for their valuable service to the community and guidance.
I have been living in the community since 2007 and have been actively participating in BAM events since 2011. I have served in the BAM Executive Committee previously as the Director of IT for 2017 and 2018, then as the Secretary of BAM for the remainder of 2018 when interim Board became effective. I have also been part of the BAM Constitution Revisit Committee between 2017 and 2018.
I think mutual respect, honesty, integrity and a willingness to work together are some of the very necessary qualities to work in a community organization and I strive to reflect those in my actions.
Every change brings along its own set of challenges and BAM went through some changes in recent past. As we, as an organization adopts to those changes, as a community we still remain the same closely knit, welcoming and committed as we have ever been. In spite of individual differences, we all come together, year after year, and hence BAM exists.
As we start the New Year, it’s my sincere appeal to the community to remain engaged, to remain committed and to come forward to make BAM’s mission successful for the years to come.
I wish you all a very happy and prosperous 2019.
